Default Dragon egg

How can it bee that it took 2-3 weeks for Saphira too open for Eragon when it normaly only takes a moment??

When Gleadr open?d for Oromis did it take that time???

If it had ben in the riders time Eragon would only get a moment to touch Saphira?s egg, what would have happend???

Atra du evir?nya ono varda

maybe it has something to do with Saphira, perhaps she'd been in the egg for so long that it wasnt possible for her to hatch immediately

She didn't take two weeks to hatch did she. I thought she did it like a day after he got back to the farm.

Yes in the movie it only took a day but in the book it took a couple of weeks.
If you remember Eragon and his uncle waited for Merlock to come to town with the rest of the group of sellers, so they could sell the egg. They waited for a couple of weeks because they were delayed.

Default it tells you

Okay if you payed attention in the books it tells you that they gave the eggs to elves and people for a few weeks for it to hatch so it obviously takes that long

it might be, but Oromis said that in his time they only touched the egg for a moment before the egg hatched.

In a Q&A archive CP once stated:
A Rider or someone able to sense the thoughts of another living creature (such as Arya) would always be present when humans or elves were brought for the first time before a dragon egg that had been bound with the spells that maintained the bond between Riders and dragons. Besides protecting the egg, this person’s main task would be to monitor the baby dragon’s mental reactions upon meeting each new potential Rider. This was often a long and laborious task, as the dragons were notoriously picky. However, in this manner, the Riders would know which person a dragon had picked to be their Rider the moment the dragon made its decision.
